Born in Washington DC in 1950, John Heine was a professional cartoonist for over 25 years. In 1990, he decided to go fulltime into oil painting. He has been painting exclusively in oils since 1990. Except for a few years of art instruction in college, he is self taught. Not content to paint like other artists or to follow popular trends Heine is dedicated to painting contemporary art that comes honestly from within himself. His commitment has always been to create original paintings that provide a high level of visual, emotional and intellectual impact. Heine is a long-time resident of Birmingham, Alabama where he lives a simple lifestyle to better devote himself to his artistic output and spiritual growth. READ MORE
